Radek Procházka

reprezentant ČR 2025

Target amount:

10 000 €

Collected: 4 000 €
Remaining: 6 000 €

My name is Radek Procházka. I live a relatively normal and happy life on four wheels, which began in 1985. First, I studied at a technical high school and then went on to study economics at university in Brno, where I graduated as an engineer. Besides working on the computer, I enjoy traveling, chess, 3D printing, and above all sports. During my university studies I married Verunka, and together we have two sons, Tomáš and Lukáš.

I “got” my four wheels at the age of eight, when I was hit by a car. The accident caused a serious cervical spine injury, which left me dependent on a wheelchair and a ventilator. I underwent several major surgeries at the Motol University Hospital. After rehabilitation at Hamza’s Treatment Centre in Luže, I started training in boccia in 2001 (a sport similar to pétanque, adapted for severely disabled wheelchair users). Within a short time, I was competing in national league tournaments. From 2005 I was a regular member of the Czech national boccia team until 2015, when I suffered long-term respiratory problems and had to put my boccia career on hold.

After returning to international boccia, I became a two-time European vice-champion and earned several medals from world competitions. Unfortunately, in 2024 I missed the qualification for the Paralympic Games in Paris, which would have been my third attempt.

In the 2025 season I have been nominated for four major international tournaments, culminating in the European Championship in Zagreb. These competitions are crucial for collecting points for the world ranking, which is required for qualification for the World Championships and the Paralympic Games.

The costs for these events, including preparation, amount to approximately CZK 750,000. I receive great support from my sports club, the Czech Boccia Federation, the National Sports Agency, the Czech Paralympic Committee, and several small sponsors, who help me cover part of the expenses. Despite this enormous support, I am still short of about CZK 250,000, so I would greatly appreciate any additional help.
